Gangotri and Yamunotri are the originating places of two rivers Ganga and Yamuna respectively. Thus, these two destinations hold a high place in Hinduism. This whole excursion will commence from Haridwar – ‘The Gateway to God’, from where the journey will lead you to your destinations via Dehradun and Mussoorie. Amongst the char dham, Yamunotri and Gangotri are considered as the two of the most sacred sites in the Hindu mythology and represents the originating places of the hallowed rivers Yamuna and Ganga. As per Hindu Mythology, Gangotri is a place where King Bhagirath performed penance after which River Ganga came down on the earth. Yamunotri is the place where pilgrims seek the blessings of Yamuna, who is the sister of Yama, the God of death.
Tour Itinerary
DAY- 01: NEW DELHI – HARIDWAR
Arrive at New Delhi Airport / Railway Station and meet our representative. Now proceed for Haridwar and check in the hotel. In the evening, visit Har-Ki-Pauri to watch Ganga Aarti at this holy place. Stay overnight at Haridwar.
DAY – 02: HARIDWAR (LOCAL SIGHTSEEING)
You have one full day for local sightseeing / Ganga Snan etc. Later in the evening, visit Har-Ki-Pauri to watch Ganga Aarti. Overnight stay at will be at Haridwar.
DAY – 03: HARIDWAR – BARKOT (180 KMS)
After an early breakfast, proceed for Barkot (the base for a trek to Yamunotri). En route visit Kemty falls. Stay overnight at Barkot.
DAY- 04: YAMUNOTRI DHAM (35 KMS. + 5 KMS TREKKING ONE WAY)
Take an early morning drive to Janaki Chatti. The trek starts from here to Yamunotri. You can either walk down the entire stretch or hire a pony/doly/Palkhi towards Yamunotri (5 Kms). Here one can cook rice by packing it in a cloth and dipping it in the hot water of the hot kund. Pilgrims take this cooked rice home as “Prasad”. After taking a bath in Jamunabai Kund’s hot water, one can offer Pooja to the Divya Shila, and having the darshan of pious “Yamunaji” before returning to Phoolchatti. Later drive back to Barkot for overnight stay.
DAY- 05: BARKOT – UTTARKASHI (98 KMS)
Morning is free for rest. After lunch, proceed to Uttarkashi. Later in the evening, visit Kashi Vishwanath & Shakti temples. Stay overnight at Uttarkashi.
DAY- 06: GANGOTRI DHAM (100 KMS. ONE WAY)
Early morning proceed for GANGOTRI DHAM, have a sacred dip in the Ganges. After darshan/pooja etc. proceed back to Uttarkashi for overnight stay.
DAY – 07: UTTARKASHI — RISHIKESH – HARIDWAR (129 KMS)
After breakfast proceed to Haridwar, visiting en route visit religious places of Rishikesh like Laxman Jhula / Ram Jhula / Geeta Bhawan / Parmarth Niketan etc. Stay overnight at Haridwar.
DAY- 08: HARIDWAR – NEW DELHI (200 KMS)
Proceed for New Delhi Airport / Railway Station for further destination.
